Hello everyone,
We’re writing with a couple exciting updates today: new writing via s w i f t s as well as a new venture to engage the book world and provide authors with all sorts of resources!
Before we jump in, if you were forwarded this message we hope you join us by subscribing for the long-term (it’s all free). We promise we only send one or two messages per month and they always bring good things.
A bit about us:
accumulate/quiet is a literary organization founded by Jeremy Michael Reed in 2025. Our name comes from the understanding that within every creative project and artistic life there are moments to accumulate, research, write, and gather, as well as moments to quiet, let a project sit, rest, and let yourself recharge. We aim to create space and support for both accumulation and quiet for writers, editors, and artists through a variety of projects, including the publication of new literary work.

s w i f t s: a literary magazine issue two
Today’s big news is that s w i f t s: a literary magazine has published its second issue - which is now live!
We couldn’t be happier to highlight the work of Ryan Collins, Paul Hostovsky, Frances Klein, Lauren Mallett, Kristi Maxwell, and Gary McDowell. Please go and spend time with their work!
And if you have writing of your own that you’re submitting, please consider sending it our way. Here’s all the information you need to know, and we’re always open for free submissions.
Like our namesake, the journal prioritizes pieces that are adept in multiple ways at the same time: speed and strength, quick movements and longevity of flight, drag and thrust. For each issue, we aim to choose a select few pieces worth reading in their entirety.
Looking Ahead:
At the Center: On Books & Writing

coming soon!!
We’re incredibly excited to let you know about our next accumulate/quiet project, At the Center: On Books & Writing.
At the Center will be a site for reviews, interviews, book coverage, and author resources in the vein of websites like Entropy’s Where to Submit List, The Millions, the Poetry Bulletin, and The Bind when they were all active resources that were free to read and free to use.
In a book world landscape without much space for reviews but with so many fantastic, fascinating, underrepresented books and authors who deserve coverage, we hope this is a small step toward fostering the kind of healthy literary ecosystem we want to have, and we hope to publish pieces as creative and engaging as the books they discuss.
The original coverage on the site will be able to be republished by newspapers, universities, bookstores, or other arts organizations who may otherwise lack the staffing to do their own coverage of their local arts scenes. And, in addition, we will have a huge set of resources for authors: magazines where you can send work, presses who might publish your book, residencies and fellowships to support your writing - all the deadlines you need to know.
For now, consider this a soft launch as we put the finishing touches on the first pieces we plan to publish, but we wanted to let you, our supporters, know what’s coming and how you can get ahead of the curve:
If you subscribe to this newsletter, you’ll get the author resources and book coverage in your inbox soon without having to do anything else, but now is a good time for you to send us reviews and interviews or pitch us ideas before we’re off to the races. Please look over our guidelines and follow us on Instagram and Bluesky.
Until next time, thanks for being here, for writing and creating, and for engaging with art however you can.
